Document Summary
Intuitive theories : how babies turn complicated concepts into intuitions about the world. Babies seem to come equipped with the foundations of psychological concepts early! When you see a box of oj, you think there is oj in the box. The answer is based on what is on your mind. Beliefs are independent of what is true. So . when do children learn to recognize others false beliefs. Sally/ann task : the tricky person switches where the ball is. Sally will look where she saw it last, because that is her belief. But it is a false belief, because it is not true. 5 year olds report where sally will think where it is, but 3 and young 4s will report where the ball actually is (typically developing kids)! If the kid has autism though, they can get this wrong until adolescence. Sally/ann diff version : like the sally/ann task, but measure where the child looks rather than asking.
