Multidimensional approach to behavior obiological influences obehavioral influences (contingencies) oemotional influence (mood influences behavior) osocial influences (culture) odevelopmental. Ex) ptsd- usually thought about as: have experienced a traumatic event, results in anxiety-related issues, flashbacks, substance abuse, etc. othe effect of traumatic event is based on interpretation of event and their personal/biological history ousing multidimensional approach: Biological- familial history of depression and anxiety, extreme autonomic arousal, hippocampal hypotrophy, have a heightened response to fearful images. Psychological- have a psychological vulnerability (especially at low levels of trauma- all people expected to react strongly to a highly traumatic event) and high fear response to trauma; they seem to view world differently than others. Social- lower education, ethnic minority, familial instability, no support. Because a minority may have a different experience of world and see it as a more stressful/threatening place. Education because of access to support resources and different view of world. Strong support network is important, minimizes effect of abuse.
