State of being hungry goes hand-in-hand with poverty. Issue is not with having enough food, but with proper access to it: hunger and inequality. Ethnic minorities and women are more likely to face hunger: solving hunger. Conflict and social/political hierarchy make it difficult to combat poor food distribution. Better distribution of aid between countries can help create self-sufficiency. Develop producers so they can compete in an international market. Disgust is a bodily reaction that is a developed evolutionary response that protects us from certain things. Disgust usually prevents us from eating certain foods. Insects could be a major part of food security. Very efficient to raise insects, require fewer resources. Insects need less space and suffer less: culture and disgust. We do not eat some things because they may be dirty, dangerous, and/or unpleasant. Connotation: creepy crawlies : barriers to entomophagy. Spread of western culture moves insects into the inedible category. Adoption of western agricultural techniques means increased pesticide use.
