Positive reasoning, discipline, affection, sensitive to child"s needs: contextual sources of stress and support. How do animals affect development: social-emotional development: Involvement with pet care and positive reinforcement by parents are important in building self-esteem. Pets in school programs: show significant improvements in children"s self- esteem.
