Must be as legible as possible: figures drawn from angles at which they will be most identifiable. Has always been visible: architecture and art was large, meant to be seen, part of popular culture. Revolved around death, history, and myth: pieces survived because they were placed in tombs, tombs referred to as houses for eternity . During the time of ancient egypt, the land was much less dry and was more like a marsh than a desert in most places. The nile river: runs from mountains of central africa to the north and spills into the mediterranean. Sea: would flood every year in june due to the rainy season. Causes happened in areas outside of the desert, making the flood seem very mysterious. Agriculture relied on this, since it flooded the fields. Was kept track of very closely in ancient times.
