Cross-functional: different people do different things and are good at different things and work together to make something work. Businesses seek workers with better social and organizational skills and ability to work in teams. Virtual teams : over skype, the internet, etc. and work together well. Life cycle of task forces/committees/teams: forming: understanding objectives, tasks, resources, storming: differences arise in personalities, understanding of mandates, or goals. Arguing what is the best solution, etc: norming: collective energy, agreeing on stuff, group meshes, performing: producing the results that the business/team wants, adjourning: everything is finished, everyone is satisfied. Move on even if result is not 100% what you want. Effective teams: leadership: unless appointed, someone will generally emerge as the leader. People can lead in different parts/aspects of the team. Seek responsibility and take responsibility for actions: also take responsibility for team"s actions, turn failures into learning experiences. Make sound and timely decisions: don"t get stuck on the small stuff.
