Atmospheric temperature (chapter 3) of the jet stream (aka weather systems) **most deaths heat by a landslide: the seasonal cycle, the daily (diurnal) cycle (earth rotation; net radiation, traveling high and low pressure systems (mid-latitude cyclones), and the position insert table 3-c annual average weather related deaths in illinois. Three processes occurring to give us temperature and weather each day : all three (cid:498)weather(cid:499) processes are ultimately driven by net radiation. Maximum temperature occurs mid afternoon, at the end of the radiation surplus. Minimum temperature occurs just after sunrise, at the end of the radiation deficit. Radiation inversion: on a clear, clam night this may develop, when the lower atmospheric temp actually increases with height due to a dramatic cooling of the surface, we say that a radiation inversion has developed. This causes the cold air to (cid:498)drain(cid:499) (cid:523)like water(cid:524) downhill!
