Socialization: the process of acquiring the physical and social skills to become a member of society. We only talk about children / wrong. Socialization is dynamic and goes both ways. Women are thought to have expressive character traits: White middle-class interpretation - studies of other groups. For example: african american males point to other characteristics. For example: men more expressive, also in mediterranean area. Parents respond differently to boys vs girls. Children learn gender in first year of life. Research indicate that children"s preferences for toys develop separately from parental influence. 2-3 - children sort into same sex groups. Boys - competitive dominance oriented interaction style. Girls - agreement and support, ask questions. Us average - tv is on for 7 hours per day.
