Disability definition: a disability is any condition of the body or mind (impairment) that makes it more difficult for the person with condition to do certain activates (activity limitation) and interact with the world around them (participation restrictions) Impairment: absence of or significant difference in a person"s body structure of function or mental functioning, examples, problems with structure of brain -- difficulty with mental functions. Structure of eyes and ears -- difficulty with vision or hearing. Structural impairments: nerve damage results in m. s. Functional impairments - complete or partial loss of function of body part: chronic pain from stuff / immobile joints, partial vision loss, complete hearing loss. Easier: wheel chair for someone who can"t walk. Developmental disability definition: developmental disabilities are a group of severe, chronic, conditions attributable to a mental and / or physical impairment.
