Document Summary

12/1/16 notes: not a good or bad person, just makes the rulebook and judges us on our behavior, can"t imagine what g-d looks like, just like you can"t imagine a new color. Thinks g-d is an old white man with a beard in the sky: judaism doesn"t tell us what g-d looks like not something we can conceptualize. Other religions give descriptions of g-d, whereas judaism does not. The best way to describe something without attribute is to not describe it. Religion is based in faith if you know exactly what something is, you may or may not still have faith in it: we (my group) thinks g-d doesn"t have a body. He is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, and foreboding. Emanuel levinas said that our ideas of g-d come through expression of things that happen through humans: said that g-d is most well-known but descriptions are so all over the place that they are next to abuse.
