Anosmia partial or total loss of smell. Nasal mucosa olfactory bulbs in primary olfactory cortex. Ventral midbrain (near junction with pons) eye via superior orbital fissures. Carry somatic motor fibers to inferior oblique & superior, medial, and inferior rectus. Carry autonomic motor fibers to sphincter pupillae which changes size of pupil in response to light. Inability to move eye up, down, or inward. Dorsal midbrain eye via superior orbital fissures. Trigeminal nerves v opthalmic division (v1) carries efferent sensory impulses from skin of anterior scalp, upper eyelid, Mandibular division (v3) carries somatic motor fibers to muscles of mastication. Pons face v1: inability to blink as a defense reflex. V2: impaired sensations of pain, touch, and temperature. V3: inability to clench teeth, open mouth against resistance, and move jaw from side- to-side. V3 carries proprioceptors from muscles of mastication nasal cavity mucosa, cornea, and lacrimal gland.
