LEAD101 Lecture 10: Comoros Outline
Document Summary
Issue: comoros is a small island nation off the coast of africa. Recently, the biodiversity and wellbeing of the country as a whole has been threatened by global climate changes. The population and poverty rate has increased significantly over the years, causing low fertile lands, and resources to disappear. Comoros depend on fishing and farming to survive. Due to the deforestation, rainfall patterns have changed. That has caused both the rivers to dry up and for deadly landslides to occur without the forest buffers. The erosion has damaged crops, villages, and even destroyed coral reefs. Timber supply has diminished, and many of the animals are becoming extinct. Due to the fact the nation is in such a downfall, global warming is only further adding to the many issues. Who is affected: the population of comoros is around 667,000, which does not seem too big. However is it extremely overcrowded if you compare it to how small the island is.
