NSCI442 Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: Autobiographical Memory, Motor Imagery, Premotor Cortex
Document Summary
Posterior parietal cortex (ppc: connected to: pain network, sensorimotor network, near the hippocampus & memory network. Auditory, visual components receiving information from many different modalities. Episodic memory relation: hypothesis: about unpleasant images being remembered better for emotional episodic memory, involved in: Attention, planned movements, spatial reasoning, researching & grasping. Damage to this area causes: deficits in perception and memory of spatial relationships; apraxia; hemispatial neglect (right side only) Receives input from 3 sensory systems (vision, auditory, somatosensory) Hemispatial neglect-not able to see parts of their world or pay attention to half of their vision: avoid obstacles, but don"t consciously see what is in their view. Posterior cingulate cortex & precuneus: pcc-near cingulate gyrus/right on top of cingulate gyrus. Hypothesis: about moral/non-moral judgments; personal vs. impersonal & altruistic acts. Default mode network-increase in activity when someone is engaging in personal thinking and inner-thoughts: involved in:
