Unger believes that there is no morally relevant difference between the two. We should try to prevent harm and suffering when possible. The behavior in the envelope is morally bad. To be morally decent people, you and i must contribute most of what we have and most. Other things equal, if your behaving in a certain way will result in the number of people. If you can prevent a death and you can still be well off as you were then it"s wrong if you don"t. However, this suggests that you don"t have to give all your monies away. This principle yields a negative verdict on the envelope but surely doesn"t demand that you give most of what you get away.
