Women and men seek treatment at equal rates if fear is severe. Disorders characterized by heightened physical arousal, cognitive distress and behavioral avoidance of feared objects/situations/events. 57% of people diagnosed with one anxiety disorder also have another anxiety disorder or depression. Discrete period of intense fear or discomfort in which 4 or more of the following developed abruptly and reached a peak within 10 minutes. 28. 3% of people report having at least one panic attack in their lifetimes. Only 4. 7% diagnosed with panic disorder at some point. Sometimes panic attacks are a symptom of another anxiety disorder and sometimes not. Recurrent, unexpected panic attacks (described on previous slide). At least one attack has been followed by 1 month or more of: Persistent concern or worry about additional panic attacks or consequences.
