4-5 heroine addicts started with prescription pills. When pills run out, they move onto heroine (cheaper, more readily available) Naloxone-drug used to reverse effects of opioids by striping opioids off receptors. Before 80s- pain medication/opioids were not prescribed often; people were seriously undertreated. 80s- increase / skyrocket of prescription oioids. Noticed a lot of deaths due to overdose restrictions and more intense procedures. Result of detailed process (doctors checking on emergency room records, etc. ) became too annoying and tedious; more trouble then it was worth. Treat the root cause: traditional medicine- look @ symptoms and get rid of symptoms, naturopathic- look @ root cause as why they are having the symptoms and solve from there.
