Last week outline: looking at the course of obesity which has increased from 1965 to today (from 10% to 65% now) and the decline of smoking from 1965 to today (45% to 15% today). We have policies that encourage or discourage behavior and effect our environment. Sedentary lifestyle, abundance of calories and advertisements are three. We are not making agriculture anymore, we are now in the post-industrialist period and now we have technology which has engineered our physical activity. In terms of abundance of calories: subsidies on certain crops, an overabundance of certain crops such as corn syrup, more fast food, price of food is lowered which is heavily subsidized, etc. Abstinence violation effect: this is part of the relapse phenomenon.
