If you"re going to drink do it safely. Recognition that drug use cannot be completely eradicated, more of a harm reduction. Currently more than 40 years into official war on drugs in 1971 by nixon. Increase call to move attention on demand, prevention, and treatment, not supply. Insite in vancouver, drug use that is allowed, clean, safe space to do drugs. Argument- more people do drugs, safe space to experiment. Truth- no increase in numbers around these sites of drug user. Argument- bring people with substance use problems in concentrated areas will bring crime. Truth- more people going into treatment, more conversation about intense thing, more resources. People die of drug overdose alone in 2019- 12k+ people. Philadelphia dpt of public health now considering safe injection sites. Data indicates that these sites can save lives, If they are dead, options of rehab/treatment are not there.
