Bodies 3: we think of bodies as biological, changed over time, obviously, bodies differ. Positivley and negatively: ethnocentrism: idea that the way your group does things in certain ways. Ie: eating meat in a society and in another not: but body standards vary across space and time. Figures from europe of female shapes that are thicker: many cultures have equated more weight with greater beauty. They need to find a prosperous man and wearing a bonnet brought them that. People buy large houses that need upkeep. People buy dogs because they are more expensive to take care of. Large hair styles proving women had servants. Walking stick demonstrated men had there hands tied up: bodies express a societies values, early americas resoect fir age/wisdom, powdered wigs and high waistlines made men look older, more serious, today older people dress like younger people.
