Measure of central tendency: single or few values that summarize the informaion of a variable ex: Gpa, unemployment rate, passing yard per game: mean: the arithmeic average of a coninuous variables. Inluenced the most by outliers, but not much the median or mode: mode: the value that appears most oten. Bimodal: a variable with 2 modes: median: the values that appears exactly half of all observaions fall about that point and half the observaion fall below that point. Idenify lowest category whose cumulaive percentage equals or exceeds 50% Variables: nominal: no intrinsic ordering ex::::income------mode, ordinal: intrinsic ordering-----mode, median, coninuous: median, mode. Measure of dispersion: range: highest point lowest point, variance: squared diference between each observaion and their mean ( each number mean)2+(each number mean)2. The higher the variance the variable has, the later the lines it will be. The taller the variable will be the smaller: standard deviaion: square root the variance the variance.
