Ask not what you could do for you, but what you can do for your country. The common good is when we are all working together for the greater benefit of everyone in our community. We are the oldest democracy in the history of the world. Ex- building roads, schools, libraries, helping others at hometown, school etc. Common good is when we re all working together for the bigger picture/for all. Civil society is an intermediary entity, standing between the private sphere and the state. Excludes individual and family life, inward looking group activity (rec, entertainment spirituality), the profit-making enterprise of individual business firms. Represents the balance between the rights granted in free societies and the responsibilities required of citizens to maintain those rights. Voluntary participation by average citizens in the public or private sectors- political or apolitical. Does not include behavior imposed or even coerced by the state. Democracy (usa does not force voting such as aus)
