Goal is to build a larger state through the acquisition of territories and trade partners: also considered to be exploitative. Using places in people in order to achieve an economic or material gain. Many european countries still reap rewards of colonialism to this day. Increase in numbers through expansion and the media. Hug influence over ideas and the behavior of certain groups of people. Power that organizes and orchestrates the systematic interaction within and among societies. Directs economic and political forces on the one hand and ideological forces that shape public ideas, values, and beliefs on another. Hard power + soft power = structural power: hard power is the use of military and economic means to influence the behavior it interests of other political bodies, soft power is ideological persuasion.
