Professor sees some benefit of you cramming a whole bunch of facts and tricks for solving problems into your head. We chemists love the facts and minutia: but in 10 years, you won"t remember the vast majority of those facts you so assiduously crammed into your head. And since that"s all you learned, you don"t remember anything about freshman chemistry in 10 years. I do not use this facts-based approach: i maintain that there are about 6 core concepts underlying all of second-semester freshman chemistry.
