Modern interpretation: a triumph of the imported gods of the invaders over the old gods of the existing ppl of. Insolent sons of gaia= chaos: rationalism vs violence, civilization vs barbarism. Barbars didn"t understand lang: philosophy vs superstition (lucretius, hybris ( self-pride , arrogance ) Attempt to climb mount olympus is a sign of arrogance. In anger at the gods for their destruction of the giants, gaia bore typhon (typhieus); his father was tartarus.
