Ruth glass came up with gentrification, which occurred in the 1960s in london, england. It happens when higher income folks move into a neighborhood that is considered lower income. As expected, lower income places tend to have lower quality things like educations and such, while higher income stuff is higher quality. Places that can look bad or be foreclosed on can be changed to a much better places. Unattractive residential and business mixes becomes attractive and higher quality, all due to the possibility of gentrification. Gentrification usually happens to neighborhoods that are technically failing.
