The land ethic- aldo leopold: ecology ethics. An evolutionary possibility and an ecological necessity. If the land is viewed strictly as property or resource the relationship is limited and only economical: we have privilege without obligation, community. Individual instincts are built for survival, fight, or flight. Ethics are the action of the community. Community- a group of people living together in a particular place that share common values, beliefs, and traditions that support and sustain one another in their daily lives: biotic community- relating to living things. Shift to humans as citizens of the land, instead of being the conqueror of the land. Expanding the boundaries of community to include the land- soil, water, plants, animals.
