Prevention of drug related morbidity ( patient ends with a disease they didnt have before) Ex: using a drug when you dont have an indication for it, need a drug and you"re not using, too much of a drug, using a drug for the wrong disease. 15 studies, in a ranging of 1. 4-15% (4. 3%) percent caused by drug related morbitidy, over half could have been prevented. In the hospital, 6 studies 1. 5% preventable. 1994- 76 k to 174k deaths drug caused problem itself. Rate: (4. 3%) same as cancer in hospital admissions, higher than heart attacks, diabetes, asthma.
