Obstetrician-gynecologists are physicians who specialize in the general medical care of women. They focus on general women"s preventative health, childbirth, and complicated health issues facing women of all ages. Ob/gyns practice in a variety of different settings ranging from solo or group practice to hospital or academic research. They treat women for a number of different ailments including but not limited to acute and chronic medical conditions, behavioral and hormonal changes, pregnancy and delivery, and infertility. 4 yrs residency after medical school (12-18 month of ob, 1 year gyn, 2 (3 months each) reproductive endocrinology infertility-rei, 6 months gynecology) 1 year of other rotations of ultrasound, internal medicine, or er. Very hard/battle training for more primary care during residency training: more humane these days, limit the amt of residence on call: 80 hour work week limit of 24 hours in a row.
