America, and if they are losing prestige, the indication is that no one wants to become a farmer. They are dependent on the market because they set prices, also depending on the weather. They also increasingly depend on industrial economy and corporations. Farmers must grow more crops to be competitive. We can get more land, make the land more fertile with fertilizer, and use machines. Farmers are generally cash poor and so they get money from banks.
