Metis was meant to be carrying the child. Zeus swallowed metis and became shrewdness and cleverness. Sperm on her leg, she wiped it off and came about the king of athens (top is man and bottom and bottom is a snake) - typical representation of creatures born from earth. Athena has a special liking for odysseus because he is a smart and clever warrior. Owl represents athena and symbol of wisdom. Women weaved - was important (took great pride in making tapestry) And in general all the arts of the city. Lots of girls and nymphs follow her.
