Waste from mining (76%), agriculture (13%), industrial (9. 5%) Of urban population live on less than / day. Waste- 1. 4 million tons/ day (1. 4 kg/ capita/ day) Population - 3 billion (30% live in slums) Waste- 2. 4 million tons/ day (. 8 kg/capita/day) Waste- 1. 4 million tons/ day (. 6 kg/ capita/ day) Water pollution- anything added to water that can degrade water quality. Clean water act (1972)- all water must be swimmable and fishable . Point source pollution- pollution that can be clearly identified. Nonpoint source pollution- anything that cannot be attributed to a single source. Nps can include natural and synthetic chemicals.
