It is those characteristics (music, arts, literature, modes of dress, foods, buildings, living habits, government/laws, language, religion, etc. ) which distinguish one group of people from another. Culture is the sum total of knowledge, attitudes, & habitual behavior. Culture region or area is the distinct, culturally discrete spatial unit within which common cultural characteristics prevail. Ex: a particular section of a continent, such as west africa or central. America, or a smaller unit such as a country (france or japan); even a section of a country such as the southern us, or the midwest, or new. Cultural realm refers to a larger entity encompassing several regions. Ex: the area in africa south of the sahara is referred to as sub-saharan. Culture trait is a single element of normal practice in a culture and may be exhibited by different cultures.
