Different from first wave which lead to suffrage in early 20th century and also key protective legislation women in the workforce from progressive: women in the workforce. Rising participation of married women in the workforce. Women were forced in suburban home in 1950s but in fact 1960s, married women"s participation in paid labor force expanded dramatically: 1940: 26%; 1950: 29% (half married); 1960: 35%; 1970: 42% It was norm rather than exception that married women working outside home the homes: pink collar and sex discrimination in employment. Most of the jobs were in pink color sections of the economy. Pink collar -jobs that are understood to be women"s job teaching, nursing, secretarial position etc. 75% of women in the workforce worked in jobs that are explicitly advertised as women only. Newspaper in the back, there was section called classified advertising where you look for jobs.
