What are we going to study: international politics, interactions between states & other actors. Some countries cooperate in some areas with each other and conflict in others: subfields (and how ir relates to them) Collective action problems: main issue, because most states are sovereign, how states get other states to give up private interests to serve collective interests, main ca problems. Tragedy of the commons: game theory. Used to find what outcomes is most common: variations of prisoners" dilemma.
