Document Summary
Sport integrity and regulation: unfortunately, corruption in sport has been and continues to be one of the fastest growing global types of crime. Match fixing in sport is not only a convenient way to clean illegal monies, but it is inherently attractive to crime- related monetary gains. Match fixing also involves bribery and gift-giving that influences the sports results and brings individuals or the sport into disrepute. Illegal sports betting are fraudulent activities contrary to law that are often linked to match fixing and organized crime. Internet gambling and online betting generate large profits that are generally outside the control of governmental legislation and, therefore, open to criminal activity: sport integrity. Integrity is defined as the integration of outward actions and inner values. A person with integrity does what they say they will do in accordance with their values, beliefs, and principles. Likewise, a sport that displays integrity is often recognized as honest and genuine in its dealings.
