Tourism policy- basically thinking about the set of regulations, guidelines, or directives that destinations use to make sure they are reaching their goals. Two big goals are to be competitive and to provide many benefits to the residents including economic, environmental, and cultural benefits. Tourism policy and type of destinations: countries, states, cities/counties, regions (no borders, but common offerings, crown of the continent (montana, alberta, and british columbia) Interplay with other types of policy: passports and visa, taxation. Interest rates: bilateral air agreements, environmental policy, customs/immigration, minimum wage policy, cultural policy, local zoning, support for public facilities. Infrastructure policy: currency/exchange rates, legal system, education policy. Implementation phase- who is going to assume responsibility for implementing it: *know def and order of stages.
