People would rather save their dog"s life than another human"s life. Outline and claim: human - dog relationships overcome differences and how this value is not captured by political theory, question force of logic on practical behavior. People love loves and taking care of dogs. Not reducible to needs (love without love) Not bound to particular categories of humans. Dogs are innately virtuous - breed for personality. Loving dogs is a replacement for loving humans. Concerned about addressing creation of legitimacy of power through addressing relationships between human beings. Ethics: should people treat dogs better than people. Rupture in political thought: political philosophy must be reasoned and coherent body of concepts (based on logic and rationality, most conform to facts of political life (emperial) More important that political theory conforms to ethics of life than latter. Human life is more important that a dog"s life, but we will still have a dog life over a human.
