Soci 3860 sociology of drug and alcohol use. The standardization of drug usage allows for a standard by which use can be measured. This measurement could provide insight on areas with heavy illegal drug use and perhaps ways to decrease the amount of use. Having a set definition of a dose of illegal drug x creates in a sense a recommended dosage of drug x for the perfect trip thus instigating and promoting its use a normal or natural. So although the standardization of a dosage among illegal drugs could help measure data and gather information on illegal drug use, the potential negative outcomes reveal, in my opinion, that the risk is not worth taking. Therapeutic communities are more effective for women than they are men because of the total surrendering of power that is required of the client and because of the requirement of complete transparency and willingness to be constructed.
