The residents of boston awaited for their punishment after the boston tea party. The punishment arrives in 1774 as the coercive acts, but the colonists refer to them as the intolerable acts. Great britain attempts to single out massachusettes for the punishment for the coercive acts. They are going to close the port of boston and block it with the naval army until they pay for all the tea they dumped overboard. Closing the port will cripple the economy in massachusetts. England feels that massachusetts is too democratic. Mass has town meeting all the time. Eng views the town meeting as opportunities for the colonists to complain. Restricts town meetings to 1 per year. Eng attempting to isolate massachusetts, however mass does not want to be isolated but want to spread the word. Instead they want is raise awareness that their problem could be others problem as well.
