Verbal dispute gets heated and at some point boyfriend slaps you in the face. You tell him to pull over and he say nahh b, but you can jump out if you want. Someone tells you they will break your jaw if you walk more than 10 ft. from them. Applies to private as well as governmental detention. The burden to prove is not as high as a crime that is a felony it is easier to prove. A regular jury is referred to as a petit jury only together for 2-3 days and only for 1 case. Usually on call for an entire month. If not enough to indict, issue a no bill (80-90% end there) or a seek out a new grand jury. Prosecutors usually present evidence that will result in an indictment. Formal, written accusation of a crime, made by a grand jury and presented to a court for prosecution against the accused person.
