Animals other than natice wildlife or common domestic animals. May be tame, but can be unpredictable. Many wild animals brought into us illegally. Over harvest (rare, threatened, or endangered species) Other sources- over breeding and trading out adults. Dozens of exotic animals released from owner"s enclosure. 56 were released, 48 killed by police. Infectious disease that can be transmitted between species (some with vectors)- between humans and other animals. Account for more than 60% of recognized infectious diseases and 75% of emerging diseases. May 2003 outbreak in us from infected rodents imported from africa for the exotic pet trade. Prairie dogs intended for trade had the virus and passed it on to humans. Ban on small turtle sales (shells less than 4(cid:362)) prevents 100,000 cases of salmonella per year. They get this bone disease when trapped. Need some calcium up in that hizzle. Need some uvb light to keep themselves lit. Regulations (the man can"t keep me down tho)
