Intentional acts that causes unnecessary pain or suffering to an animal: more serious offenses. Found in a plastic bag thrown dog a garbage chute. Owner was sentenced to 18 months probation and had to pay fine. Three, 3-week old, puppies were nailed by their back feet to railroad tracks. Two of the puppies were able to be saved. One of the puppies, hudson, needed a prosthetic leg due to his injuries. Lists cases (some still open) of animal cruelty. The pit bull has its own search criteria. Seize animals, care for them, and rehome if possible. Interconnectedness of different forms of violence: well documented correlation between violence to animals and violence to other people. Abuse and violence are all about power and control. Displacement of hostility from a person to an animal: nonspecific sadism.
