Phnom pehn used to be called the pearl of asia . Khmer rouge forced out the entire population to be killed or work. 2 million cambodians died as a result of starvation, torture and execution. Stores, schools and hospitals were banned, as well as religion. Wanted to take people back to what they called the year zero. Vietnam invaded cambodia to bring an end to the regime. Is now a museum that documents what happened during that time. School rooms were converted into torture chambers. There is evidence left behind in the cells.
