Includes computer, video games, tv, pads and phones. 2-3 hrs/day spent doing non-work activities while at work. Rates vary by race, non hispanic asians = lowest. 17% of children + adolescents (2-19) are obese. Rates for children have doubled in the past 20 yrs. Rates among 2-5 yr olds have decreased. Obese children are 70% more likely to have at least 1 risk factor for developing cardiovascular disease. 1st time in history -> decreased life expectancy. Only 29% meet recommended daily 60 min of physical activity. More media use and stationary free time choices. Spend more time in front of screens than they are playing outside. 70% of parents rarely never limit their kids screen time. Obesity related conditions include heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer. Few get recommended 30 min physical activity/day.
