Document Summary
Chp 6 - geography and its connection to leisure. Outdoor recreation = important to many people. Way people respond to place and how space is shaped by human behavior. Help us understand leisure behavior and make decisions about leisure delivery systems. Density - frequency with which something occurs in space. Concentration - extent of somethings spread over space. Number of teams in us expanded = increased density. Teams primarily in the east = clustered concentration. Density and concentration impact perceptions of crowding - the subjective judgment about number of objects in a space. Characteristics of other people - people we perceive as different from us. Motivations - activity done for social reasons vs to get away. The situation - beach at spring break vs family vacay. Helps us determine equity of resources and profit & reduce impact. Distance - importance in influencing our leisure choices. Recreational sites have varying abilities to draw participants.
