Based on the kansas city panel study. Took a panel of 279 people and they were all white and all middle class and all healthy. Studied these people for 5. 5 years and measured different aspects of them. Decline in role count (number of active relationships they have) At 60, she had 20 friends, by the end of the 5. 5 years, she had fewer friends. Decline in the interaction index (amount of fay interacting with others) Decline in social life space (role count and the amount of time that she interacts with those people and how that occurs over time) Increased authoritarian (people became more rigid- less flexible in the way that they thought) Increase and then decrease in religious piety. Alienation from dominant world view (freedom from social norms) Progressive interiorization (becoming increasingly more inward looking, thinking ad reflecting more)
