MA 111 Lecture 6: Fairness Criteria Notes (Solutions)
Document Summary
Today in class we discussed the fairness criteria and went through some past in-class examples to see how the fairness. Your third homework assignment is due february 5 at 11:59 pm. If no candidate holds the majority, then the candidate who receives the fewest 1st place votes is removed. If a candidate wins by a majority to another candidate then they receive one point. If the two candidates tie they receive half of a point. If a candidate loses the majority to another candidate then they receive zero points. The winner is the candidate with the most head to head competition wins, if such a candidate exists. By using the majority method, the plurality method, the borda count method, the pairwise comparison method, and the plurality with elimination method we get that candidate b should win no matter which voting method we use!
