There are a lot of ngos but not a ton of igos. 60s and really kicking in during the 80s. This is because human rights was a hot topic and technology allowed for cross-border communication. There used to not be very many igos, but they"ve grown in numbers. The number of states has also grown with decolonization, the separation of the soviet union, etc.
