Culture is: learned : a process of enculturation that starts at birth, learning the cultural norms. There has to be a sense of the shared aspect because, if culture is symbolic, then it has to be shared to be understood. Culture is all encompassing: not based on low and high culture. Culture is integrated: this means that parts of cultural life tend to intersect. Religious beliefs, family structures, concepts of work, other aspects of identity, are interwoven: this also means that a change in one part of culture often produces a change in other parts of culture.
