Of course this ancestor didn"t look like either humans or chimps today as both are derived. Perhaps this common ancestor looked more like this specimen of pierolapithecus which lived around 13 million years ago and is closely related to living apes (it has no tail). Common ancestor probably look something similar to chimpanzees. Somewhere before the split between human and chimps but close relative of living chimps right now.
